The New Era Rose
The new era rose because she had to; she was tired of hands bruising her petals. Soft pads of fingertips pricking themselves along her thorns – trying to figure her out. She rose quietly, but with a force that reverberates through her surroundings. She rose, choosing to pluck herself from the bush to prove she has the strength to stand on her own. She rose for her sisters and her mother, whose petals have wilted, yet still glow with luster. She rose because it's her time; the hands of the clock have disappeared because no longer will she be a slave to numbers. The New Era Rose presented herself as a force to be reckoned with.
